Has anybody tig welded with 75 argon 25 co2? I have only done with 98/2 and argon. Thanks.

Are you just doing mild steel? I' tried it......didn't like it. I like pure argon better, seems to have a nicer arc and welds easier, but one of the others guys or gals might have a different experience

Tig should only be done with inert gasses, Argon and Helium and mixes of those. No O2 mixes and no CO2 mixes, allowed. Tig is Tungsten INERT Gas, therefore the gasses need to be inert.

Try 92% Argon-8% Hydrogen.............Runs Hotter and keeps the bead narrow, also 98/2 same gases works almost as well.

Hydrogen? Better check that again!

Argon/hydrogen mixtures are only suitable for welding austenitic steels because of the risk of hydrogen cracking in steel and porosity in ally.

That said, if you are welding austenitic stainless argon/hydrogen will give massively improved results over straight argon, these mixes are used widely over this side of the pond with argon/5% hydrogen being the most common. If you use nitrogen/10% hydrogen for back purging you will also get a far better result and use loads less gas

Yes, hydrogen mixes work well on austenitic stainless. The arc is very consistent at low amps and tends to not wander as the tungsten deteriorates. Holds a few advantages in travel speed, but helium mixtures are almost as good, with less cost.
