Greetings yall,

Its been a while since I posted but I wanted to let yall know that unfortunatly with my full time job changing my schedule at the last min I was not able to go to school to start my welding program but I still want to get in the trade some how.

I really hate to ask this but If any of you know anyone in the Upstate SC area that might would want an inexperanced but really willing to learn greenhorn as a shop helper or any other entry level position that would help me get my foot in the door to this great trade please let me know.

I have called and sent out applications/resumes and showed up on a few peoples doorsteps but the best Ive got is Id hire you but we just hired 2 guys and a lot of go through a staffing service or you need experance.

Once again I hate to ask but I am still just trying to find a way into the trade

You can reach me at drakedawson@gmail.com

Thanks yall and hope you all are doing well

What can I say here. I've helped at a shop for free after going to school to learn a bit but wouldn't recommend it. My concern here would be you could be learning to do things the wrong way and not know why. If you went to school first your foundation would be good then your experience will follow. Ever try to change a bad habit? Don't get me wrong there are some excellent self taught welders out there. I'm sure I'll hear too.
I admire your drive to get into the field. I followed a steel truck one time to find a fabrication shop. The owner laughed when I told him what I did, but, I got the job. Keep looking, there has got to be a shop that needs a helper, who doesn't mind grinding and fitting.
Forgive the rambling here and good luck!
