Has anyone purchased and used the AWS standard welding procedures? How can they be used to specifically set up a welding machine? In the ANSI-AWS B2.1-1-018-94 for FCAW-G the electrical caracteristics allow for 5/64 wire to be used with the variables of 16-21 volts and 145 - 300 amps. Now how can a sound weld be produced with a setting of 16 volts and 300 amps? This also is outside of the allowable range of table 4.1 in D1.1....?

I believe that the proceedure covers a range and that you must use variables that work within the range.
Notice also that this proceedure is not allowed for welding requiring notch toughness.
I got the same one and returned it because I work on structural. My jobs require FCAW with notch toughness.
