I think there is 14 pc boards in the pipe-pro and 2 of them are a grand apiece, if you own 1 of these machines, you are a gambling man. :) A friend of mine washed his pipe-pro a month ago and moisture took out a $750.00 pcb. I told him it cost less than that to rebuild the continental engine in my Lincoln. If anyone thinks a pipe-pro will last as long as a Lincoln generator, they are in for a surprise....

A Trailblazer is an engine driven alternator that produces AC that's then rectified into a rough version of true DC.
A Pipepro is an engine driven generator that provides power to an inverter. Two completely different machines.

Everybody I know or know of that has a Pipepro has had reliability problems. Some people really like the way they weld, but they haven't proven very stout.

Thanks Ya'll for the info Sounds like I might have screwed up! I bought a used unit w/1500hrs on it. I have been a die hard lincoln man forever. Well if nothing else it will work for a back up machine till I get my classic . Thanks for the advice

JTMcC What kind of reliability problems have they had?

Pipepro's aren't a DC generator they are an inverter.

Pipehead, I always hear of elecronics problems, I haven't heard of anyone having engine problems.
Miller appears to be pushing the Pro 300 in the pipeline world now instead of the Pipepro.

I'm sticking with my DC generators until the Vantage proves itself, and probably even after that.

I don't no much about any of the miller machines but hopefully this one holds up.

Gentlemen,

I spent a long time debating wether to buy the pipe-pro 304 or the pro 300. I ultimately decided on the pro 300 for a couple of different reasons.

For one, the pipe-pro was more expensive about $2500 more for a couple of fatures that I really dont need. Weld at idle is great but the pipe-pro idles at 1800rpm which is what my pro300 welds at wide open!
The pro 300 idles at 1250rpm. This saves fuel and wear and tear on the motor.

Secondly, the pro 300 has a Cat deisel engine, made by Perkins, whom many people I know consider to be the best in the world and far superior to the Kubota in the pipe pros.

If I worked in shops or near other sources of electric, my decision may well have been different. Being able to dis-engage the engine and plug the machine in would be a great feature but I've never been in a situation where this would be benificial.

Hope this helps.

A miller pro-300 has 11 electronic modules and a vantage 300 has just 3, easy to see the lesser of 2 evils, :) . The vantage has a 4 cyl engine and the miller has a 3 cyl, another no brainer.
The pipe-pro has the electronics of a xmt304 inside it. Its an xmt304 with a motor, i'll bet the motor outlast the electronics 10 to 1.....
