Dear Gerardo:
May be if you make your question in a more specific way, you will obtain specifics answers to your request from the group.
Jorge Giraldo
If you are only changing the filler metal classification and are using an AWS Prequalified Joint Design and other parameters within the limits of using a prequalified Welding procedure then there is no problem with the change. Table 3.1 of AWS D1.1 shows approved base metal/filler metal combinations.
Have a nice day

I am going to talk about technical points.
-3 type is good for mixed gas and 6 type is good for CO2 gas
-if you are using mixed gas, 6 type may reduce the porosity problem. However you have very hard weld metal. You have to check hardness for your information. You may have cold crack at the weld metal due to high hardness.
-if you are using CO2 gas, 6 type is okay.
-Why. 6 type has more Mn and Si as a deoxidizer. With mixed gas, unused Mn and Si increase the hardness of weld metal. If you are using heavy thickness and low heat input, please be careful.
