Everyone: This spring there will be 25 graduates from a new 3-yr (90wk) program at Conestoga College in Guelph, Ontario. The program is called Manufacturing Engineering Technology-Welding & Robotics and has the first two years in-common with an existing (since 1972) Welding Eng. Technician program.

The new program includes a heavy emphasis on welding process technology, welding metallurgy, inspection (NDE), codes & standards, and welded design; but also extends this knowledge to include the application of arc and resistance welding processes to robotics and non-robotic delivery systems (Motoman, Panasonic, and Fanuc), off-line robotic programming (Motosim), CAD/CAM applications (AutoCAD & SigmaNEST). The 3rd year of the program also includes courses in QA, Operations Management, Manufacturing Processes, and each student completes a major independent Technical Project related to welding technology.

The program is taught by 8 key full-time faculty with backgrounds ranging from journeyman welder/fabricators to an engineering Ph.D, and all with extensive industrial experience in heavy-fabrication, automotive automation, welding R&D, and the management of welding operations.

We believe that this exciting new program is unique in North America. Check-it out at:
