Hi I was jsu wondering since i have been welding for awhile more in the commerical field then industrial.Is it possible to pass a 6010 root 7018 cap x-ray test without grinding the root pass out and just taking the hi spots off and running 7018 right over 6010? please e-mail me

I don't know what type of work you're doing, but the contract documents on most structural jobs do not permit the use of 60 series electrodes.

Yes. When I was with Fluor we gave a 2" Sch 80 C.S test. First pass&second pass E6010 and then LH-70 out. The welders could clean the weld of high spots and slag with a file only. Had a 64% break out but not very often for slag. Changed the way I tested later on but for years did that way.
