Talking about thickness range. In API 1104 for procedure qualification, para. 6.2.2, e 3, it states "Nominal pipe wall thickness greater than 0.750 in. Does this mean that if I qualify a procedure using .875" thick coupon my thickness range would be from .750" to unlimited?
Help and thanks in advance.

The referenced paragraph is for performance testing of welders, not procedure qualification.

Paragraph 5.4.2.5 (applicable to procedure qualification) says exactly the same thing, but no thickness ranges are given. I believe it was intended to have the same thickness range listed in 6.2.2.e.3 (see 5.3.2.3).

This was a long way of saying that I believe your interpretation is correct.

BTW, I am looking at the 19th ed, Sept. 1999.

You are quite right. Para. 5.4.2.4 states that a change from one wall thickness group to another constitutes an essential variable. Para. 5.3.2.3 says examples of suggested groupings in 6.2.2 items d. and e. I guess the implication here is that one wall thickness group in 6.2.2 is from 0.188-0.750 and thickness greater than 0.750 would be another group.
thanks

Yes, I agree.
