On a shop drawing, a SPLICE WELD for a TS8x8x1/4 (Now Known as HSS8x8x1/4) is shown with a 45 Degree bevel on both pieces (90 Degrees, Combined) with a 1/4" root opening. I this weld legitamate?

I think it should be 30 Degree bevel on ea piece(60 combined) and have a max root of 1/8". Am I correct?
