This is a fixture I made to weld extensions or lengthen tubing or rod. This is a much smaller unit at home I use and a much larger unit is available at the job. I designed these units to weld rod or tubing up to 1.5" on the smaller unit and 3" on the larger unit. The secret to maintaining a true centerline is to construct the unit with a solid, unbroken angle for the tube/rod support by welding in place and then cutting the welding slot after the assembly is finished. When welding the angle to the base frame, I have a 1" solid steeel rod c-clamped in the angle to maintain straightness and rigidity. Also, I can weld 2 different sizes by using sleeves to offset the different diameters. Just an idea for anyone who may need to weld tubing or rod to lengthen it. Hope someone else finds use for this or make a modification for their own use.....Denny

Brilliant! I honestly don't think I would have thought of making it out of one piece and then cutting it. I gotta start thinking outside the box more.
