hiya- does anyone know the make-up of RG65?  I'm going a little off topic because i would like to use this for another function in it's "rod" form and was wondering if in it's stick shape how corrosion resistant is it?  I'm not too worried about it rusting, but about it tarnishing-becoming dull.  if it needs an occasional cleaning that's ok.  Thank you!  now how about where to rent some "how-to" videos?

Pretty much low carbon steel with an extremely thin copper coating which may not hold up too well to corrosion.

ok...so since my pieces do not have any copper coating then i'll assume that it's solid steel...right?  Thank you!

RG65.  Yes, it is solid steel
R stands for Rod;
G stands for gas (usually for oxyfuel welding);
65 stands for 65,000psi at the yield strength.
The copper coating on the rod is for atmospheric protection
and also contains a dioxidizer for cleaning (to a point-but in time it will rust).
