Hello guys,
Has anyone ever worked with this material ?
Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and regards,
Shane

Shane, I have not worked with that particular material but suggest you e-mail Mr. Frank Babish: frank.babish@sandvik.com

Good luck.

By the way, how's that B31.1 vs. B31.3 issue coming?

Interesting alloy. I would assume that with the high silicon that the typical SS viscosity/edge wetting issues will be somewhat reduced. I wonder how it responds to hot cracking. Keeps us posted as to what Frank says.
Sounds like typical SS technique. Low heat inputs, clean, etc.

Hello Jon,
I have handballed it to engineering, will try not to lose any more sleep over it.
I have expressed my concerns to the engineers but ultimately it is them that will be signing off on the work.
I think there could be a bit of CYA going on shortly.
Regards,
Shane

Assuming one and the same material, it faired well, heat input as I recall was closely monitored. while the demo I witnessed went well, I did take note of the excessive attention that was paid to heat input.

(searching through some dust in the brain)
SX piping systems, originating from Edmeston materials engineering, Spec ASTM 312 tolorances ASTM A 530, approval through ASME code case 2029-2. I Believe TUV has had a hand in it somewhere as well.

I've only seen it once, and that was a demonstration. So I can't claim a whole a lot of knowledge. Initial data looks really good though.

Let me know if this helps.

Regards,
Gerald
