Does anyone know of a person/or/shop in the so.cal. area,or close states,that knows these pup's and fixes them? I finaly got my 1992 sa-250 all ready to go and now....nothing. The f163 gas/motor purrs,but there's no ac-power at the recepticales,or,any current going to the leads.Nothing.I dont want to even mess with it.Just want to take it to someone who isnt a bozo. Any referances would be apreciated.Thanks.Gary.........
Hello Gary, do you have an EC Electrical anywhere close to you? There is one in Portland, Ore. that I believe works on the Lincoln products. It almost sounds like the fields need to be excited (at least I believe that's what it's referred to as). I personally don't know how to accomplish this, however, there are likely many on the forum who could advise you. Before you get totally frustrated with your project you might want to take a close look at all of the connections and inspect them for corrosion, breaks, or other things that might interfere with the current path. Also look at the brushes, springs on the holders, and terminal connections and such, these can give a person grief occasionally. Inspect the commutator surfaces for varnish deposits and clean with the appropriate tools, an automotive parts house can likely provide you with a cleaner of the correct type. Gary there is a man named Wendell, who is semi retired but still works a few days per week at the Bakersfield Praxair. That might be a ways away from you but he is widely recognized as a guru with many years keeping those machines in full song. And my dealings with him indicate he's a nice guy too. If you talk to him on the phone he might clue you in.
Thanks Gentlemen.I have actually looked at all the things you have mentioned.I have the instructions on how to "flash the fields",but would like to have a guru look at it 1st. Bakersfield Ca. is about a 2 hour drive from my home,but I would gladly drive there if this gent would be willing to go through it.I will call Praxair and see if he's still available.
