Currently I am AWS/CWI and working in Middle East, I am Filipino Citizen and I am Planning to migrate in Canada. What are the Requirements to become CSA W178.2/CWB Level2? Do I need to take the CSA W178.2 exam? or Can we apply the Reciprocity Program without examination.?

Note: If you are CSA W178.2 and a holder of Canadian Welding Bureau level 2 and you want to become AWS/CWI you need only to pay the amount based on the Reciprocity Program without examination, But you must be a Canadian Citizen.

i hope you guys can help me, thanks in advance.

You cannot go from CWI to CWB Level 2.  There is no reciprocity at that level.  The AWS "Reciprocity" is really a ":uniprocity".  The CWB has additional NDT requirements, that the CWI doesn't have.  Thus, a CWB level 2 can be a CWI but not vice-versa.  Sorry

Thanks for the information Sir,
But while Browsing the net for more than 5hours, I saw this information from CWB GROUP:

The Canadian Welding Bureau and American Welding Society recognize the qualifications each organization gives to welding inspectors under their respective qualification scheme. Welding inspectors who are certified to Level 1 of CSA Standard W178.2 are eligible to apply for the AWS QC-1 CAWI qualification without undertaking further examinations. Level 2 welding inspectors may apply for the AWS QC-1 CWI qualification. Similarly, welding inspectors with the AWS QC-1 CAWI qualification may apply for CSA W178.2 Level 1 qualification. Welding inspectors with the AWS QC-1 CWI qualification may apply for W178.2 Level 2 qualification provided they have been certified as a CWI for a minimum of 2 years. There is no reciprocal arrangement for CSA W178.2 Level 3 and AWS QC-1 SCWI welding inspectors at this time.
Check this out:

I therefore conclude that if you are currently AWS/CWI for a minimum of two years you can apply for W178.2 through Reciprocal Arrangement.

Thanks for that reply.  This news to me.  I am on the AWS Certification Committee, and we were considering voiding the reciprocity agreement, because we were told that in order to go from AWS CWI to CWB Level 2, NTD certs were required.  As we understand it, you could only go from AWS CWI to CWB Level 1.  This is news to  me.  Thanks again1

Recriprocity is a one way street in Canada, you must take the exam. (read sucks)A AWS cwi card will only wave some of exam requirements!

Please Explain?!?!  As far as I know you can ger an AWS Cwi by just applying, if you are a CWB Level 2.  I know three CWB Level 2s who did it for one of the bridge projects I was the QA inspector for.
