It would be a disaster for the engineering profession around the world that ASNDT and AISC close their doors due to financial problems. The American government, that is spending billions of dollars to maintain 150.000 soldiers in Irak, could well spend a few tens of thousands dollars to save those two institutions, to whom the engineering profession around the world ough so much.

Reorganization is a way of life in the business world.

I would be amazed to see either disband completely. They may take on a different form, but I don't see either going the way of the dinosaur. At least I hope  they wouldn't.
