In paragraph 4.2.3.2 Extended Validity. When this paragraph speaks of (uses a process) is this meaning in terms of GTAW, SMAW, SAW,... ect. or does this mean a particular weld schedule?

You had it right the first time... Continuity continues with verified work in process... GTAW, GMAW, whatever.
In house qualifications may be more strict or comprehensive but to comply with code you need only verify work in process.
