This should be published in the "Where have all the Welders gone" string.  $48.00 with your own Workers Comp!  Outrageous!  I think you are hurting the welding profession if you use our Forum to help out that cheap employer.

All learned-up. Even if it was your first job after insurance and expences you would most likley go broke just showing up. I think in 1979 that was the going rate.Maybe buddy is caught in a time worp .

If I go on contract I want at least $65/hr for me and my skill plus $35/hr for my rig, along with purdim and helpers pay. If I need my own insurance/comp the price goes WAY!!! up.
