HOWDY TO ALL.. I AM A STRUCTURAL WELDER I HAVE BEEN BUILDIN FLAT BOTTOM TANKS AND REPAIRS FOR 8 YRS ALL MY EXPERIENCE IS STRUCTURAL. I AM AN X-RAY WELDER STICK AND FLUX-CORE WELDING. I HAVE AN INTUITION IN PIPE WELDING HAS BEEN AN INTEREST OF MINE FOR YRS I WOULD LIKE SOME INFO ON WHAT WOULD BE THE RIGHT MOVE TO GET IN THE FIELD OF PIPE WELDING. THANKS FOR ANY HELP , MIKE

I would say try to get a job in a shop that does structural and pipe, that way you can practice on pipe in your spare time. Then when you're ready, they may give you a shot at a test.
Several guys in the Veco shop in Anchorage did that, one of them is a CWI, now.
