Up Topic Welding Industry / General Welding Discussion / Mig Guns or liners For Nickel Alloy wires ?
- - By pipewelder_1999 (****) Date 05-14-2007 18:54
Does anyone know of any "new" products that are available for feeding difficult wires ? I recently talked to a fried that indicated his shop had received some mig guns that would push NiCrMO-xx wire in .045" diameter with no problems coiled in the floor loke a hose. I didn't get the brand name.

Any advice ?

Have a nice day.

Thanks

Gerald

they are not new but teflon wire liners are what we use when there is a worry of contamination of the wire consumable by the liner and they do feed easier.

Darren has it right, we use teflon liners when alloy contamination is a concern.  We also use galvanized liners on some of our high volume robotic welding cells using NiCrMo-3.  It last a lot longer than standard liners, and doesnt seem to drag as much.

And as it turns out the Teflon liners also assist in the sliding of the wire through the conduit. Like eggs out of frying pan.

Do you get pretty good life out of the teflon liners on hand held guns ?
