Spend too much time looking for the lighter when you "just set it down, it has to be here someplace"?
Get a double ended dog chain clip, the spring loaded type.
Attach one end to the loop at the back of the striker, the other end stays clipped to a belt loop on your trousers on the side of your dominant hand.
You will never need to search for it again.
The retractable clips sold for ski passes work equally well also.
Can't stand things hanging from my belt when I'm traversing in tight spots. I usually clamp my special vice grips to the material I'm working on and strike an arc to start my torch. No striker needed.
If you wear carharts. like most welders it turns out that there is a pocket just made for that tool.
bend a rod hook one end in pocket bend the other end slip striker on that end, basically two opposing Js one J in pocket other J holds striker
I usually use my eyes and my hands ;) although I've been known to use a mirror or two & some wire after I accidently dropped it ;(
Respectfully,
Henry
I just open the striker end, run it through a belt loop on my jeans, and close it back.
Same here.
Striker? Oh, you mean the BIC lighter???? I tie-wrap that sucka right to the torch leads.
If I'm on the ladder it's on the floor, if I'm on the floor it's on the ladder, after I look in both places I usually find it in my pocket.
