Hello - I am looking for a guided bend test machine for root/face bend testing, basically something exactly like the AWS D1.1 Fig. 14.5. The problem is I can't locate a company that actually has anything in stock, and the ones that do have a hydraulic system included, which makes the machine an all inclusive design, but raises the price considerably. I've checked the following sites mentioned in this forum (thanks):
www.tech-aid.com - out of stock, considering not making the product anymore.
www.fischerengr.com - expensive, complex, whole unit not really necessary.
Also, Instron makes a couple that are exactly what I need, but are out of stock and the lead time is 42 days! My company kind of threw this on me, as apparently a current job requires the test, and we need it soon! Thanks for any help on this matter. Oh, and we could build one per the specifications in 1.1, but don't really have the time right now, thanks.

We built one with scrap we had laying around using the dimns in D1.1. Not really all that complicated.
I have the Fisher Eng. (shop air over hydraulic). The plunger has knurlerized face that prevents slippage of the specimen. This is important when bending specimens with different tensile properties. The plungers are available in different radii, so you can do Steel, Alumimum and work to different codes and with different thicknesses and different radii. The outer rollers also adjust outward and inward to accomodate different thicknesses and the different radii plungers.
I recommend this unit for versitility, compactness and portability. You do not need to have a big power press or a press brake to operate it.
