What amps do you run with a 1/8" 6010 rod on 2in. pipe?

From 92 to 110, depending on your machine.

Sch 80, right?

yea burn it in there  right amount of amps  per sourdough......just a hint  when it looks like its running too hot (violent) its probably just right!

92 amps???  Damn thats hot...even welding on a I beam with 6010  When I run 6010 on a 2" sch 80 I run around 76 to 80 amps...I like my gap at 3/32 and i have no problem burning  the root in!!!

Uphill or downhill?
Sourdoughs' 92 amps might be for DH
Jonesy70 78 amps seem right for UH

Amps is determined by you fit up and land size and like said above wether or not your running up or down.  Sometimes you can't get the pipe stetcher out and you got to run er in there cold.;-)  Someguys like to keep it tight and run real hot dam near using the pipe as filler metal.  I like the 3/32 land and gap at about 70-80amps like said above and just hold er in there, but sometimes yor fitter is haveing a bad day and you gotta carry him.  Oh and everyone hates one of them glorified welders. :-)

LOL  Yes jonsey your in there for an uphill root....we were definitley refering to downhill git er done temps.

What's worse than the fitter having a bad day is when the welder is having a bad day, you'd been better off just to stay home, at least you're wife or girlfriend won't start whining about how you took the garbage out and it is a 1/32nd of an inch away from where it was suppose to be! ;) heh.

dude every machine is different.  just look at the key hole while you are running it it will let you know if you are to hot, the key hole will get realy wide and or it will fall out on you and you will find your self running from the keyhole. there are alot of veriables to your heat also it depends on your landing size and your gap using 1/8 rod on 2" I would run a nickel landing and a loose 3/32 gap and as far as your amps go like i said just watch the puddle and the key hole.

Every machine sometimes differ. You may set it on 90 but the real output is 110, its much better to test first before hitting on it. Welders sometimes vary with their amp comfort zone, lower amperage is more controllable to achieve a quality root... With regards to the gap, for me the ideal gap should be the measurement of the diameter of the rod (exclude flux). But it also depends on the welder which is comfortable to him 'coz others prefer to reduce the gap more....
