What is a good rod for tig welding 4130 to 321ss. I was thinking along the lines of a 309L or a Hast. W.
It will be a v-groove with a 90 degree prep, 0.110" thick and a 0.050" land butted tight together, full penetration required.
Just trying to find out what the application of the part is for.
Regards
Jim

Not sure if you're still waiting for an answer but 309 seems fine. Verifiy its mechanicals against your service though. Hast W is way overkill.

Thanks JS55
I did go with the 309, good to have confirmation though.
