can i weld s.s. to steel and if i can do i need s.s. or steel filler. can i weld either of those to aluminum or copper( can copper even be welded in a sense of welding and not brazing)? thanks

YES YOU CAN WELD SS, TO CARBON STEEL, USING AN 309L SS ROD OR SIMILAR WIRE WELDING ALSO DO KNOW WHAT PROCESS YOU ARE USING MIG , STICK, TIG??? HOPE THIS HELPS, TANKIE

2nd question.....ummmm no not with aluminum if you could you would be a very wealthy individual....copper can be attached to steel via welding in some limited ways.    You can GTAW copper together using 347 SS filler and a few other fillers.

you can most certainly braze s.s and carbon steel to copper with silver solder. you can even solder copper to aluminum, using steel wool, flux, and tin - lead or tin-antimony wires
