Consider it GMAW.  MCAW is classified under GMAW right now and there are prequalified applications under D1.1 for GMAW. GMAW-S(short circuit) must be qualified by testing.

Thank's for the quick reply.  I had the owner ask me on the spot w/ out my code nearby and I wasn't sure myself.

Is this  a process that may become it's own catagory in the future???  SMAW,MCAW,FCAW,SAW??  I've only heard about recently in the last six months, that does'nt mean it hasn't been around for awhile, I wasn't familer w/ it.   Thanks again, Chris

Please let me know where the prequalified applications are for MCAW in the 2004 code book

Table 3.1
GMAW A5.18  E70C-XC and E70C-XM, also E80C-XXX  (GS suffix shall be excluded from pre qualified status.

A5.18 is the GMAW filler specification... it includes MCAW

Figs 3.3 MCAW would be synonomous to the GMAW as far as prequalified joint tollerances.
