I am looking into getting one so I can run.062 wire and have a little more fill rate and amperage than the 250 millermatic for 1/2-3/4 inch thich mild steel. Was wondering if anyone has any feedback, thanks.

I've used Millermatic 350P and like how it works... Simple

I still think FCAW is more efficient and easier to run than large diameter solid wire.

Running Spray transfer with 1/16 solid wire is going to leave you with a giant pool that can only be run in the flat position, big risks of undercut at the high voltage required and sidewall fusion conserns with the tendency to overlap.

I think you will also need to look at gun upgrade on the Millermatic 350 if your going to go through with the Big wire.

Look closely at deposition rates @ 350 amps for both solid and FCAW...

With 0.045 FCAW gas shielded you can get about 16 lbs per hour at  335 amps

With 0.052 FCAW gas shielded you can get 16 lbs per hour at about 375 amps

To get 16 Lbs per hour with 1/16 Solid wire you will need over 400 amps.  350 amps will only yeild a little less than 13 lbs per hour

With 0.045 solid wire you can get about 14.5 lbs per hour at 375 amps

Wire diameter does not always equal effeciency.

How many inches per minute do You have to run to get 16#/hour with .045 cored wire? I looked at a chart that showed 7100 Ultra putting down a little less than 12#/hour at 600 ipm @ 308 amps & 30 volts. I guess a bit over 800 ipm, if Your feeder will put it out that fast.

I dunno Dave

I just took the numbers off the Manufacturers spec sheet.   The 7100 Ultra will run 400 ipm vertical up with straight C02 (this I have tried) which seemed pretty impressive to me.. So I just don't doubt their claim.

Any of the newer Miller or Lincoln top shelf feeders can have their drives adjusted to run above the standard 750 ipm.  We have locals who run 0.035 solid at well over 1200 ipm... I don't like the quality it produces but they sure get alot of wigets done in short order

they must be pretty good because our shop just got 20 of them the other day.
