Well Gentlemen;
At last, here's the first draft of the Other Big Red Book you have been waiting for.
I want to thank all the contributors to this worthwhile endeavor. It's taken weeks of collaboration to compile a summary of our careers of mistakes and lifetime of misapplications of half truths and simply minded attempts to fabricate and repair weldments of all sorts and kinds.
My hat off to our Vice Chairman who compiled this worthwhile undertaking.
This is a work in progress, thus subject to endless revision and modification. Send your comments to J. Gayler of the Big Red Book Committee. With a little luck he will forward it to me. Please read and make your comments known ASAP so we can go to press. There are a few new ones that missed this draft, but never fear, they will be incorporated into the 2nd draft that will be available soon.
Best regards - Al
Chairman of The Other Big Red Book FC-2002
Damn Al, you really do have too much time on your hands :)
That is pretty dang funny though. I'm just waiting for the right time to reference it.

now thats weldin'
darren
i will drink a beer in your honour al
Your compliment is graciously accepted, but lets not leave out the folks that contributed their thoughts to this glorious effort.
Best regards - Al
Somebody better copyright this thing!
BABRT's
It was copyrighted the moment he posted it publically without a notice for public release. It's pretty damned funny to say the least.
Regards,
Gerald
You've outdone yourself on this one Al.. Good work
Here's the proposed cover (attached). I think the FC series should have its own color.
Ross
I guess it's only fitting that the color of the "other red book" is actually purple.
Hello Ross;
A little heavy on the blue hue, but it is a move in the right direction!;)
Best regards - Al
Maybe this cowhide look is more evocative of farm life.
Paint/Color Specification - Paint/color shall be determined by owner. However, when the job is specified as a "hot job" and the correct color is not in stock, any suitable color may be used as long as it is "close" to the specified color. On jobs not specified as "hot job", any color close to specified color may be used.
Note - "close" is to be determined by either the person applying the coloring or by the employer of the person applying the coloring.
My vote goes for the gateway pattern also, with possibly a tractor broken in half on the cover also!
Sounds good, but can the spine and binding be made of duct tape?
Bailing wire is more prevailant on the "Farm"
Good point. I had a car radiator and bumper held in by that once.
Ok, so, hand wound, spiral binding.
You mean like the D1.1's I've gotten from IHS? Oops! I just said a bad thing. Sorry!
Cowhide fits the them, maybe a combine or tractor in relieve in the white section
perhaps a cattle guard on the cover?
Absolutely awesome! It had been a difficult day so far, but after looking over the draft copy I busted a gut from laughing so hard!
My vote is for the "Gateway" cow pattern using the same brown as seen on A2.4
I guess we could always apply the phrase..... "cut to fit, paint to match"
