I recently bought a Wilton brand 7x12 horizontal band saw. the blade measures 3/4" x .035 x 93". i have looked all over the World Wide Web and havent had any luck. Does anyone have any ideas where do purchase these? I even asked my local welding supply...no luck.
I've used a company here in San Antonio that has coils of the blade material. They cut it to lengh and weld the joint. What ever size you need. I'd have to research what the name is. Some of the larger, more expensive band saws have the blade welder as an attachment. You just buy the blade type and make them yourself. DLWood
Darin: Call Mike Morrison at Hagemeyer Co. (502)961-5930. I use Lenox DieMaster II. These are top quality blades that work so much better than cheap blades that You can't afford to use the cheap ones. I use the 10-14 vari pitch for general work. The rule of thumb is You want at least 3 teeth in the work at a time, coarse blades for thick work, fine blades for thin.
thanks so muchj dave, the bandsaw is a new addition to my shop. nice to know where to do business.. i will give them a call after the holiday. thanks again
I welded many blades from coil stock for the large bandsaws I used in industry and had pretty good results. BUT I had poor results with the ones I welded for My little 4x6 home shop saw. I think the flexing around the small wheels was the problem. The welds would fail before the blades wore out. The factory welded Lenox blades hold up extremely well.
thnks alot dave, i ordered 2 blades from my local welding supply. they were $37.00 each.. this will get me by until i call the company that you recommended.thanks for your imput and hope you have a Happy Holiday!
Darin, You can probably get good blades through Your local welding supply, the point is You want a top quality high speed steel blade and not a carbon steel one. There are other good brands, Lenox just happens to be the one I am using.
Hey Shorty, I use Lennox "Super Bandsaw Blade" EDP84558 7 9 BX3/4 035 10/14 for my 7X12 they last a really long time. This part number is more then a couple a years old so I'm not sure if it is still good- Ted
