I have a sa 200 code 7214  model sa200f-163      serial# 700941  Think my shunt coils are bad how big of a job is it to replace these. The engine runs great and machine is in very good shape.

you need a 12 ton press to take them out and put them in that requires splitting the machine in 1/2 it's not an easy task

Do you have 110 at recept, but only a slight sparkle when you try to weld? Does the machine go to high idle when you try to weld?

If it is your shunt field coils, they are dove tailed into the generator housing you will have to have a machine shop fix up a jig and press out the old olds and press in the new. Usually runs $100 for a machine shop that is set up for it.

You have to start at the control panel and work your way back piece by piece. Can explain in detail if you want. But it takes our shop approx 2.5 hours tear down time.

That is correct.  110 power works fine. Just a very light arc when trying to weld. It kicks up to high idle when i try to weld but I have been locking it on high idle to trouble shoot. Machine sits alot but worked fine last time i used it.  Thanks all for replying.

Shunt field coils. If you take it to a repair shop you're looking at $850-900.

called them they told me that it was not worth it to fix. Has any body changed shunt coils or know someone who has ?

Have you asked Tom Fowler with Hybriweld in Louisiana? He supplies the non OEM shunt coils and might know of a shop that doesn't just want to sell you a new machine. 985-384-6914.

That may be the reason I have customers from NC, Tenn, Ill, etc.

ask them if they have a good back half for sale you have to split it anyway

I found a electric shop very close they are going to look at it next week. they have done this type of thing before. Will let you know after i here from them    Thanx all for your help!!!!!!!!!

back half you know the armitur housing if they got a good 1 buy it and put it on i got 1 but its for a shorthood machine
