Hey all,  thought  i would introduce myself. Been goin through the forum lookin abit.  Seems like alot of knowledge around in here.  New to website, but not welding. Anyways.  I've just bought a 64 sa200 redface off abuddy i know.  And, this other guy had wired a finetuning selecter knob to it.  And for some reason it doesn't work or caused the starter to mess-up. I want to say that it has spark, but not strong enough. I have to get starter rebuilt and put back on before i can tell more. Was wonderin if anyone could help me w/the wiring from the face-plate back to the machine?  This welder did run great before the f/tuner was put in . Txs and Happy NewYears too all .

Fine current control rheostat? Burned up starter?
Parent - - By 76fl (*) Date 01-02-2008 23:38
I guess what i meant to say,  was i think the guy wired up the rheostat wrong or ??.  And the starter is bad. Not sure of yr. the redface code: 4150 / serial#A-415119. Also have one that the exhaust pipe was off and rain got into it. However it is not locked up, but i need to drain and flush, then refill. Not sure of yr. on this one Code:3555 / serial# A-388219. 200ampere/40 volt  m-8803 is on the black faceplate. Both ran this past summer and are in need of misc. parts.  Like doors, roof(top), and face plates for both.Maybe carb. on the 3555. Any and all help would be appreciated. Txs.

sn A415... is a 1960, sn A388... is a 1958.

This manual covers code 3400 to 7275. But there is no wiring schematic http://content.lincolnelectric.com//pdfs/products/navigator/im/IM208.pdf
PARTS: http://content.lincolnelectric.com//pdfs/products/navigator/parts/P23.pdf

Attached to the fixed leg of your rheostat is the red wire from your recept, the wire that goes to the swiper is one of the wires coming from your generator housing (shunt coils).

The M8803 black face is no longer available original. Stumpfs is making them for $45 and they are red. The doors weigh 20# each and the shipping isn't too bad, but due to the measurements of the roof the shipping is 90-100.
