Since your an inspector what flaws do you look for on a branch test as far as the bead goes. In other words what will bust you out.If your bead rolls over the pipe a little will that bust you.

Thank you. On standard wall 12" do you require six passes, bead, hot, 2 fillers and 2 bead cap?

BK, how does one do the points without a start/stop. Won't there at least be two starts at the same spot or are you not counting that? And have you ever seen the points rounded as shown in the Thomas W Franklin welder pipefitter book? Also at what angle should the torch be pointed when cutting the points on the branch section? I don't recall if this has been covered in the past but is a template allowed or does it depend on the company? Thank you- Ted

BK, thank you. I stated my question about the torch angle on the branch wrong. I ment it to apply when cutting the hole in the main not the branch. Will the torch be pointing to the center of the pipe when cutting the point? And is the main (carrier) beveled? Ted
