hey darin i looked up the seriel on bills and it said 69 and its a black face unless i miss read it and its a 70 hey i got my truck today too. so im in the market for a flat bed for it i put new starter switch and cleaned out the gas tank it was ful of junk it fired right up the hood had some rust on it i cleaned that all up im going to prime and paint tomarrow. i got the hood all straightened out so i dont need a new hood just one door also it has the big mouth gas lid if that helps on a year. im going to do an oil change and spark plugs tomaoow too.i got a 2001 f350 f door 4 wheel drive long bed i got some engine work to do on it hows your project rig coming
sum1 could of changed face plates
but the numbers are stamped onto a black face plate though
any parts house carries number stamps for round 30-50.00

1972 was a split year on red faces. early machines in 1972 were redfaces and later were blackfaces
For years you could order a new faceplate from Lincoln (people do this when the original is faded or damaged), they would put your original numbers on the new faceplate and ship it to you. A replacement on a machine that originaly had a red panel, would be a black panel if it was bought after the change.
The black panels came in mid 1970 model year.
Late 1972 the change was made to electronic idler and side lugs.

thanks for the info! i bought several shorthood faceplates from stumpfs. VERY NICE REPRODUCTION. matches to a tee. i believe ksellon got some too.
M10926 is the short redface plate it was originally black. M8803 is the long redface plate, Lincoln still makes these but they are ugly and plastic. Stumpf is the only redface plates I'll carry. I tried The Decal Shoppe for awhile, but they are not quality.
hello I have rebuilt a 64 updated idler and powder coated body the new face plate I got was not to my standards how can I contact Slumpfs to see there Quality
ok so i was trying to get the knobs off this machine, i got one off but the allen was stripped on the fine tuning knob. well to make a long story short i pulled the shaft thru the .... what is that called a reiostat anyways i need a new one. can i get those locally or do i have to order it and if so what do i ask for. but on a good note it is a red face when i pulled the screws out of it i could see the red corners. it was painted black but like a fine mist over it where you couldnt see any red. if i try paint thinner or something to get it off will it take off the red and numbers too?
you want to ask for a 64 ohm rheostat Kaye can get you the number and she prolly has the part if not stumphs has them on ebay for 89.00 plus shipping i'm not sure what they cost from lincoln and if nuthin else i have a used 1 for sale if your intrested
M5090-C rheostat. $70 plus freight. You are not the first, it happens most everytime. We sawsall the shaft off. Thats why you get a new rheostat when we paint your machine and put on a faceplate.
hey thats the best ive found. i want to put a new face plate on cuz i cant get this black paint off if i get one from stumpf can i get some one to stamp the original serial numbers and stuff off. i will get with you friday on the rhestat. trying to get this f350 going i had to get it from this mechanic and send it to the ford house. the mechanic i used screwed me 9 ways from sunday. made me order a computer and replace a but load of stuff that i didnt need too.

no, the faceplates on ebay are from leftcoast enterprises from Surprise Arizona. Not quality faceplates. go directly to bills or stumpfs.(bills sells the same as stumpfs)
yea i talked to cory at stumpfs yesterday he said they would stamp my original numbers in it too. 40 bucks plus shipping
