PASS AMPERE VOLTAGE SPEED HEAT INPUT
1 90 11 75 7920.00
2 120 14 90 11200.00
3 140 15 80 15750.00
5 100 12 100 7200.00
6 150 16 80 18000.00
01,02,03 one side passes
04,05 after backchipping passes
Now for 01,02,03 one side passes what will be heat input
Average of 01,02,03 or Total of 01,02,03
I use an Excel spread sheet and the statistical analysis tool to determine the median, average, and standard deviation based on the parameters of each pass. The reported average is the average based on all the weld passes and I limit the range to one standard deviation unless it is beyond the range listed by the appropriate welding code or standard. I have never had that happen, but it is something to consider.
Some welding standards state that there can not be any variation exceeding X% for each pass, but that isn't a condition in all welding codes or standards.
Then there is the question of whether the referrenced code or standard requires two procedures, one with the high heat input and one at a low heat input to develop the allowable ranges of welding parameters. Every code has different requirements.

Volts X Amps X 60 Devided by Travel speed, will give you Joules of heat input. John
