Gentlemen,

Is it just me or is this year starting off god-awful slow?! Everyone I talk to has something going on in a week or two but nothing right now. I'm doing O.K. but it seems like the last six months or so has been kind of an uphill climb to stay busy. I've been out trying to contact new customers and gotten a lot of good responses but things have yet to really beak loose for me here in the front range Colorado area. What are you guys seeing where you are? Any advice?

Thanks. I appreciate the tip. If things don't pick up for me here soon I may have to try and get into a job like that. The tough part is if I leave this area and then the customers start calling, then what?! I'll have to come home and start all over.

The work looks like its stacking up. I started a flow line but was stopped because they decided to move the tank battery (I've got a great idea about where to put it!), I've got a big loader bucket to repair; 2+ days of work but I'm waiting to have some AR plate rolled, and then I have 18 frac tanks to modify but I'm waiting on the company to clean the tanks and order material. Then I have three of four days work in a gas plant nearby possibly this week. And then I've got card in front of lots of other customers who could call at anytime now.

Just wait the will all call the same day demanding that their jobs receive thop priority! Luck of the Irish my a$$!!!

I know the feeling! Just remember my freind; you can replace them far easier than they can replace you!
And it will only get better as the demand for skilled welders increases!

Still I have no illusions about who and what we are. In the eyes of these companies we are nothing but a bunch of plow horses. Just like a farmer would hitch a plow up to a horse and whip his a$$ until he can't pull anymore, in my experience, its pretty much the same with us. When the horse can no longer pull the farmer gets a new horse. He has no loyalty or compasion for the old horse. Nor should he. He has to get the job done. Its the same with most of these companies. You can do a great job at a fair price for them but the minute you can't drop everything you're doing and come running they're on the phone looking for someone else. I'm not complaining just stating a cold, hard reality of the business.

Its a potentialy rough way to live but I wouldn't have it any other way. I love being in almost total control of my own future, meeting new people and working in different places almost everyday.
