Question: can anyone tell me are there any places to get a foot control for a Miller A/BP 330 combination stick / tig welder? I know Miller has them but they are $350.00 new. I was hoping to get one for cheaper than that. The foot pedal is a RFC 23 A, part number 040071. Also, this machine serial number indicates it was built in 1983. Does anyone have experience owning one of these machines and how did it perform? The tech at Miller I talked to said they were considered a top of the line machine at the time it was built.
Seems kinda spendy.
You might be able to find a whole Miller 330 with foot pedal included on Ebay for that price. Which in the long run may not be a bad idea if you have the space for a hanger queen.
I saw one foot pedal on ebay for your machine that was about $50 cheaper
Lawrence, that's true if it were close by. The problem is that the ABP weighs around 700+ lbs. Shiipng it would be really expensive and so would going to pick it up fpr that matter if it were very far away. I remembe r when I bought the one I have. It was Feb. 2 years ago and I couldn,t even get it to move on the trailer by hand. I had to drive 30 miles and bought a shop crane to use to get it off the trailer.
As far as performance on the DC side it has a good arc. On the AC side it has a very good arc up to 210 amps. That's the max it will go on the 2nd range. The last range, above 210 sucks. It's very unstable, can't explain any of this from a technical stand point but that was my primary tig machine until the newins came out. Matter of fact it's still for sale in York county Pa. -Ted
Those foot controlls show up regularly on eBay, usually $50 -$150 There are 2 versions of the same unit, the less common one has 3 prong twist lock plugs for both cords. The difference is a grounding lug on the contactor plug on the oddball. This grounding wire isn't needed for Your machine to function, You can change the plug to suit Your machine.
Thanks, Dave. I will keep my eye out. I really don't want to give Miller $365.00 + tax + shipping
See My post about these pedals in the "Wanted" section.
