Today I welded my first pipe all the way out.  I Tig the root and hot then capped with 7018 3/32. I was pretty proud of it. My instructor told me it was done well, but i did have some defects on the cover passes. I wish I had some pics to post to ask you guys what you think, but I don't.  I will try to get some.  I will test the pipe tomorrow.

Congrats,

What sort of defects are you talking about?

Let us know how the test goes and remember  to try to make every weld better than the one you just did!

Defects meaning welding tieins when you start and stop on the cover passes.  Them things are a hassle. They really are tough because of the rod angle. I was also doing the procedure in 6G so that is as hard as you can get. Thanks for the post guys.  Also we did not get to test it today so when we do I'll post the results.
