You sure put a lot of detail work into that, looks great.
Parent - By Justin O (**) Date 02-09-2008 04:04
thank you and the main reason for me getting my bed is that it has a hideaway gooseneck in the very back for my travel trailer. No more motels.

Parent - - By Justin O (**) Date 02-09-2008 04:00

Parent - - By raftergwelding (*****) Date 02-09-2008 16:16
yeah i dont know what's going on around here guess i'm gonna have to get another machine ready and head up north i sold my everyday machine last week and picked up a great running welding 67 redface in S.A for 1700 i'll get the 53 up to par work the shutdown for travel money and head out i guess just wish i knew where to go my wifes cousin is trying to get me to join the 798 but i dont like the idea of me paying somebody to tell me where i can and cant work
Parent - - By chris2698 (****) Date 02-09-2008 18:30
yeah Shad I don't know about those unions. I thought about joining one around me till I talked to another guy that was in one he was just saying how there wasn't that much work for welders in a union around here. This union was becoming more a plumbers union from what I heard. I would think unions are to B*tchy about everything and all so maybe big companys wouldn't want them to for them but I really don't know. I read about that 798 it kinda sounded good but who knows. Start having to pay all those dang dues and hell there may not even be alot of work for you because you're ao far down on the list
Parent - - By darren (***) Date 02-10-2008 05:37 Edited 02-10-2008 05:41
agreed you "don't know much about those unions". i think a little more qualified research might give you a more accurate perspective on what unions are and are not.
just a thought
darren
and that is a very trick looking rig. ever think of custom body work on cars and bikes cause you definitely have the talent. i give it a ten for looks.
that is one of the best business advertisements you could have.
Parent - - By chris2698 (****) Date 02-10-2008 07:55
unions are all who you know
Parent - By darren (***) Date 02-10-2008 10:52
or what you know, and we all know something different.
Parent - - By Sourdough (****) Date 02-14-2008 17:31
Shad, I may have something for you in a month or so. Getting moneyed up right now on this plant job. May need a second welder to work the rig calls.......
Parent - - By raftergwelding (*****) Date 02-14-2008 22:35
sounds good i might be ready by then this shut down i started might be over by then how often do you run rigs and whats the money like i know it's just rig calls and sumthing is better than nuthing but i need to work at least 5 days a week to make it worth it i like you have a family to support
Parent - - By Sourdough (****) Date 02-16-2008 14:32
All it takes a few phone calls, and rig visits, and I could have at least 3 rigs exclusively. I'm not making that push again unless someone else wants to do it. I'm a pipe junkie nowadays. You know the deal: 3am call outs, nightmare 24 hour deals, etc......60 an hour for the right guy.
Parent - - By raftergwelding (*****) Date 02-17-2008 04:59
yeah i know the drill they are saying it'll be april before this shut down is over whats the cost of living like up there i'm not wild about chasing rigs either but it pays the bills i dont guess thats 60 an hr with anything supplied huh yeah i know wish ful thinking but have to ask
Parent - - By chris2698 (****) Date 02-17-2008 05:23
Shad what is the hours a day and the days you work on a shutdown? is it like 7-12's? for like a month or so or what? never worked one but been thinking about it.
Parent - - By raftergwelding (*****) Date 02-17-2008 05:51
every co. is differewnt on this 1 we will be changing out the fan housings on the drag line in the mine for 2 weeks 7/12's then go to the plant and work 6/12's 23 an hr plant starts on 3-4-08 grab your stuff and come on they need welders can ya pass a plate test it aint hard really it aint hell they didnt even test me
Parent - - By chris2698 (****) Date 02-17-2008 19:20
a plate test like you mean V butt plate test open root? or what? vertical overhead what?
Parent - - By raftergwelding (*****) Date 02-17-2008 22:50

Parent - - By chris2698 (****) Date 02-17-2008 23:47

dang nice  rig you have there!!!   thats some good talent   how long   it take  you  to   build it???  what  kind of miller  you  running
Parent - - By Justin O (**) Date 02-10-2008 22:51
I had some guys in Oklahoma fab it up for me I haven't had any days off barely got a day to go put it on.  Im running a Pipe Pro 304.
Parent - - By ablake32 (*) Date 02-11-2008 01:46
I really like that bed it reminds me of a slick red dodge i saw on this forum about a month ago. I just fabbed a bed for my new truck after seeing that red dodge and then i see another sweet one here. Nice set up Justin O I like the angle on those boxes. wheres your spare tire?
Parent - - By Justin O (**) Date 02-11-2008 01:51
its still under there but its really useless  my truck tires are 35x12.50x17 so it wouldnt fit.  Im working with the guy in the red dodge thats bullsnbets on this forum.
Parent - - By ablake32 (*) Date 02-11-2008 02:08
right on. Are those boxes recessed below the deck, depth wise?, or is the bottom of the box the deck of the truck?   I havent built boxes yet i ran out of time and had to get back to work. I was going to buy some pre fabbed boxes but after seein yours i dont know man those are nice.
Parent - By Justin O (**) Date 02-11-2008 02:18
below the deck and i have a hideaway gooseneck hitch at the very back
Parent - - By chris2698 (****) Date 02-11-2008 04:10
35's?? never would have thought that
Parent - By Justin O (**) Date 02-11-2008 13:28
there are 2 1/2in spacers between the back tires so they dont rub
Parent - - By tightline11 (**) Date 02-11-2008 16:55
i don't want to start any trouble  but  i  heard  the the miller pie pro  had some issues  in the past   of not operating  like there suppose to  and no  im not a miller hater  i  run  a tb301  on my rig   i was just wondering  if  thats  true   im wanting a bigger welder   and  was  looking at the  pipe pro   or the  pro 300
Parent - By Justin O (**) Date 02-12-2008 03:21
Mine has given me no problems but a friend of mine has a new one with 500hrs and the bearing went out he went to start it and he said it sounded like it was falling apart.  I have 900 hrs on mine and no probs.
Parent - - By ablake32 (*) Date 02-12-2008 05:19
I bought a pro 300 last June and really like it, have had no problems
Parent - - By tightline11 (**) Date 02-12-2008 17:13
thanks  for the input
blake  isn't  the pro 300 a 1800rpm welder????  and if  u  don't mind me  asking  what did u have to give for it????? before i  buy one  i am going to rent one of the pro 300 and  run some rods through  it  see   how   i will like it

i  do know  what ever  i  get   it will be a low rpm  machine
thanks  again   for the replys
Parent - - By ablake32 (*) Date 02-13-2008 00:27
yeah its 1800rpm. I think I paid around $9600 or 9800 for it and 120' of remote. I dont like the remote iwas used to a fine adjust and with this thing you move it a hair and it jumps 10 or 15 amp. Its easy on fuel though and so quiet you gotta remember to turn it off before you drive home at night lol
Parent - - By Kix (****) Date 02-14-2008 18:16
Man thats a nice truck period without the bed!!  Then you go and put a sweet a$$ bed on it and now the truck just looks unbelievable.  Hats off to ya.  What year truck is that?  Does it have a 7.3L powerstroke or a 6.0L.  If it's a 6.0 have you had any probs with it?
Parent - By raftergwelding (*****) Date 02-14-2008 22:33
look at the truck again Kix it's a dodge it has a cummins in it
