Lincoln welder remotes

I have a Lincoln welder with a remote with a wired in plug in for my grinder and buffer etc. The only thing is the grinder plug output increases as you turn up the remote. Has anyone had any experience with a set up like this...Is this the way it should work?..Keep in mind it is an older Lincoln SA200 with DC output.

No, It's not suppose to be that way. The wiring is messed up somewhere. Theres not much to wiring the machine for the remote so it shouldn't be hard to figure out.

its wired backward take it apart and switch the wires

Well I did some welding with it and it works fine..the remote turns up and down the amperage but if the remote is close to 0 there's no power to the grinder but say at 5o you can't notice the difference in the grinder output....

Without seeing how this unit is wired, it sounds to Me like the Aux. recepticle is using the power regulated by the rheostat rather than the power direct from the exciter.

Is it a short hood? On some of the older shorties the auxillary output varied with the rheostat control.
