I didn't like mine. search aaround on the forum a bit theres lots of posts on the subject.
save yourself some heartache and buy a miller,i been reading on other boards where lincoln has stopped production on the vantage due to many problems.go with the pipepro or pro 300,they are pretty much trouble free. roger
hahah people say no don't buy a miller then they say no don't buy a Lincoln LOL well what the h*ll is there left to buy then? I don't know I heard for a while miller was having problems but I guess with any kinda new technolgy you're gonna have problems the first few years
Don't spread untrue rumours, Lincoln has not stopped production on the Vantages.
I run a Vantage 300 with the kubota. It is the Best machine i have ever owned. Ive been welding for 28 yrs. 22 of them on my truck. Ive tried lots of machines. And by the way, Lincoln still makes them.
Rent you a 300D and try it out. I personally love mine and I have no problems running downhill.
I know at least 6-8 pipeliners I work with that have them and none of them have had any trouble with theirs. I use a SA 200 and most of them do wish it was as smooth as the 200 but wouldn't go back to one after using their 300D. I used the New 200 pipeliner and loved the way it welds. I'm looking to get one of those. As for Miller or Lincoln, in my area if you show up with a Miller on your rig all the other welders will give you a hard time. Don't know if it's that way anywhere else and I have never used a Miller so don't jumo down my throat I'm just stating a fact. I do however have i great looking Miller Killer Decal on my Lincoln SA 200 lol
yes they will give you hell but let them try it and they change there mind especially when they finally get to weld with a real machine
Becareful now you gonna make some folks mad at ya.LOL!!!
i know thats why i do it LOL
stick with the Perkins, its tried and true.
I've got a 300 classic, and a 305d ranger. The ranger threw a control board early on, but is a real good all around lightweight machine. I run it on my singlehand rig. The Classic is a damn good machine! It runs downhill like a dream, and it's versatile. You can run 1/4" jet rod all day with it if you're doing some structural or what have you.
i got a 200d about 4 weeks ago and love it so far i thought it was going to be wild but passed a 12inch bellhole and 12 on 12 branch with ten hours on it , ive been running it on the 2 and 4 setting for now its a little hot still
thats what im talkin about.
I have had my vantage500 now for 6 months and love it had a problem with the fuel but other then that love it welds great lots of power has a cummins b3.3 in it and I have 100 hrs on it and I don't think i've put 5 tanks of gas in it.
I've had my 300D with the Kubota for about a year. I haven't had a minutes worth of trouble with it. Took me a little while to get used to it. The only thing I don't like about it is it runs cold and won't warm up in the winter time.
Hey guys, I have a classic II on one of my rigs that I purchased new in 98 and I love it and I wanted to buy another classic II for one of my other rigs but can't find any used ones for sale. So I decided to purchase a new 300D with a perkins and called my local welding supplier to get a price and availability. He said he had to call lincoln and would get back to me. He called back and told me that they said the 300D was being discontinued . Have you guy heard anything about this ?
Thanks, Ray
HI, if you steal looking for a classic II you can find one on the craigslist on dallas,TX. side.
