The dimensions on a welding symbol, are they minimum or maximum? Where is this stated in AWS A2.4? I have a dimension for root reinforcement of .060". Help!!!!

look at 3.14.1, 3.14.2 and figure 11a (98). i would ask the enginer for a tolerance, unless you have one in you QC manual.

Thanks for your reply. We are using the 2007 spec. which no longer has para.3.14.1 or 3.14.2. The drawing in figure 11 shows minimum dimemsions, so that's what we are going use, but I think that the spec should state all dimemsions are to be considered minimum.

i forgot i had the 07 also. look at 5.17, it requires tol. to be referenced if applicable. fig 11 is showing 2 specified tol. and 1 unspecified tol. The .060" specified is a minimum.
