Can anybody explain why some project require BOP( Bead on Plate)?

I am certainly no expert because I don't know what you mean by "bead on plate".  Can you explain further?

The bead-on-plate test is generally used to determine the minimum heat input &/or length of weld required in order to avoid anacceptably hard microstructures.

When I see plan views of piping drawings or orthographic drawings of piping systems, BOP refers to elevations (usually) as Bottom of Pipe. I am not sure if this is the case in your situation, but it might be though.

I agree with George.  BOP could mean a number of things including balace of plant but the request was specific to bead on plate which deals with hardness and possibly impact testing.

I thought BOP was a Blow Out Preventer
