Can you advise me if there is any standard shielding gas selection chart available with AWS?
If it is not available with AWS, kindly advise me from where can I get the chart?

Check AWS A5.32. It is a specification for shielding gases and it includes some recommended gases for different materials.

Is the revised copy any different, from the 1997 issue?

Forgot to add:  There is an article in this month's, May 2008, Welding Journal, for selecting shielding gases for GMAW.
