I'm in search of a company hiring 4 CWI work
Parent - By Kix (****) Date 05-22-2008 20:10
Check the AWS website job find feature.  Monster has a few right now.  There are allways CWI jobs available in at leadt one of the job find websites, but you have to be willing to move most of the time.  Heck, do a search on google for CWI jobs.

I've done that but the good jobs are word of mouth!
I'm willing to do global travel too!

Thank You, but I've been to those sites and I was hoping for a job that was word of mouth. I know it sounds crazy but I'd like a great contractor that is hiring!

Let me expalin how a word of mouth job happens. A friend of yours you worked with sometime back who is working for a company calls you to let you know about a job.
You are busy but you have worked with a guy you know would be just right for this job. You call him and sure enough he is looking.
You tell him a friend you know called looking for an inspector and you will pass on his name to him.
You call the friend who called you and give him the contact and you worked with this guy and he will make him a hand.
They get together and if the $$ is right, one friend gets a job for another.
This all happens because people KNOW each other. I know people I would recommend in a heart beat for a job. But it is because I have worked with these people I would recommend them.
You build your network of contacts. This takes time. 3-5 years! I have been doing this for over 20 years and still have contacts I talk to at least once a year just to be sure phone numbers work.

Yeah, I know how word of mouth works! I don't mean to be a smart a** but I was asking for a favor.
I've talked to Tulsa Inspection & Cleveland Inspection they've got nothing for 4 to 6 weeks.

Gregg,
BigK has said it like it really is. If you are looking for a "word of mouth" job, for the best possible outcome, you will need to get that "word" from someone who has first hand knowledge of you and your skills.

Here is a link to a job, and I guess you could consider this "word of mouth" and without knowing you this is probably as good as you will get from anybody who does not know you.

http://www.aws.org/cgi-bin/mwf/topic_show.pl?tid=16069

I do not recommend this job, but it is there and passed on to you "by word of mouth" or finger as it were.

You can make your own judgement about it.

and again, Good Luck,
John

I know about that job, you have to have an Alaska Drivers License.
But thanks for the Info!
Parent - - By Pipeslayer (**) Date 05-27-2008 22:29
Keep looking and one will post for Kuparuk and you will not need an Alaska drivers license. They will need to get permission to hire you.
Parent - By Gregg Santomieri (*) Date 05-27-2008 22:51
I talked to Connie and I was told that I'd have to get an Alaska drivers license. This is on the only job they're hiring for and it's on Prudoe Bay. But they are hiring welders if you a Union Pipefitter.

I've been QA/QC for 5 years. I've been a CWI for a year.
Parent - By pipewelder_1999 (****) Date 06-02-2008 16:51
I get one or two calls/emails a month from people who visit my website looking for an inspector/CWI for short term work. It is usually in the Southest US. If you send me a resume I can let you know when they call if it seems like a match.
