Interesting pictures of major component failure of a loader boom. Closer inspection revealed several cracks that would eventually lead to failures in in other areas. More to follow.

Interesting pics......so what's the plan?

Repair or replace?

John,

Immediate repair and ship to a zinc mine in upstate New York. We put two shifts in over the weekend and plan on shipping back to the mine next Sunday. There is also extensive cracking in other loactions that is being repaired. Maintaining pin hole alignment is going to be our next concern, but I'm confident that the customer and the welding contractor will do a top notch job.

It's not really my place to stick my nose in but I couldn't help noticing that the second picture has a 7 inch grinder that appears to be missing it's guard.......................

Gentlemen.

Your keen sense of attention to detail is to be commended! Actually, it was a 9" wheel. Things had to get done!

Stick your nose in as often as you feel! It's an on going learning experience!
