So i'm working with A-36,A-60,A-514(t-1),A-572,ex-ten-50(whatever that is),and A-1018CRS. Maximum thicknessis 1 1/2" minimum thickness is 1/8".
These all get welded together in different combinations for example(A-36 TO A-514(T-1)) A-514(t-1)to A-572, A-514(T-1) TO A-1018CRS all with a MIG wire that takes it out of the Prequalified catigory.  So what table do i need to be looking to figure out the test i need to qualify these procedures for fillet and groove welds?  If i do a groove weld test in the 2g with backing wiLL that qualify my fillets up to 2f and anything up to 2g?  I know i need 3/4 plate to quaily up to 1 1/2", but what table are the test coupon dimensions in?  Where are the group #'s listed for the different steels? Thanks for any help that you can give on this matter

The dimensions of the coupon are listed in Figure 4.10 on Page 161.
Table 4.2 & 4.3 Note d (Pages 135-137) reads, "CJP Groove weld qualification on any thickness or diameter shall qualify any size of fillet or PJP groove weld for any thickness or diameter."  Section 4.24 (Page 129) and Section 4.29 (Page 130) among many others give the same general info if the notes that happened to be in front of me are correct.

Kix,

I'm not so sure that you are out of the prequalified category just because you are using GMAW (Mig or hardwire). If you use a gas with a dew point of -20 deg F and spray parameters you are still prequalified. Please tell me more in the forum or by email.  I have done extensive spray GMAW with ER70S-6 and 15% AR 85% Co2.

I'm sorry i forgot to metion the wire i'm useing.  We're using an er80s-d2 and e90c-d2 wires witch throw it out of the prequalified status.  The A514 t-1 steel throws it out also so anything welded to the t-1 had to be tested and qualified.
