New edition of D1.1 Interpretations is published

For as much as D1.1 costs...

You would think the interpretations would come in one of the appendices.

Interpretations (at least the ones that get published) exist because the authors were unclear about a specific item and as a the committee agreed clairification was required... Why the user of the code must pay even more money to find out what they determined is scandelous!

The interpretations are available free on the AWS website as they are issued. We periodically collect them in a book people can buy if they like having a printed collection in their library, but the full collection of interpretations are available free on the website, and that's where you'll find the newest ones as they are issued. Sorry, I should have mentioned that.

http://www.aws.org/technical/interps/ is where you'll find them.

(There's absolutely no intention to be doing anything scandalous.)

Yes, but that list isn't being maintained. For example, the last D1.1 interpretation listed on http://www.aws.org/technical/interps/Year.html is from the 2004 edition suggesting that there has not ever been a single interpretation for the 2006 edition of D1.1. [EDIT: Oops, the two examples I cited here from the last two issues of the Weldinig Journals were for 2004]

This doesn't make Lawrence's original comment completely off base at all. This section of the AWS website could be such a useful tool but, if it isn't maintained than it really is just a teaser to sell the book.

Thanks for pointing that out. We'll make sure the latest interpretations get posted shortly. (I think there was only one ever issued for the 2006 edition.)

Trust me, the intent is not to make this a "teaser."
