A656 Gr 80 5/8 thick using a GMAW process on a robot I need to put down a 5/16-3/8 fillet anyone have any recomendations on wire,gas,pre-heat required for a project of this nature?  Thanks Justin

I think you want to go with NS 102 wire,here is a link that can give you more info!

As for preheat,I am looking for info myself, maybe someone has had experiance with this material and can let us know.

We weld this daily as one of our "main" materials. I prescribe the use of ER80S-D2 filler and 95/5 Ar/Co2 shield. Size wire should depend on fillet size and joint position.
For parameters, I prescribe a slightly "wet" arc as compared to a ER70S-6 wire because the puddle is slightly stiffer and a wetter arc will enhance the wettability.
With .045" 27-28 volts  350-400Ipms should put you in a good neighborhood

And by "wetter arc" you mean?

A "wetter arc" means in the world of slang terms,,,a "soft arc"  or a in a spray mode, a little lighter on the wire feed rate. This allows the edges to wet easier.
