Has anyone read the full article (in "Science") on this?
I would be interested in how it can be welded and how properties can be restored after welding. Also, does "tempforming" sound a lot like the methods used by sword makers of old?

Interesting.

I've read about Tipper before, but not on the site you listed.

Best regards - Al

This process doesn't seem to have anything in common with old time sword making, at least as I know it. The link article would have been better if it listed mechanical properties of the "new" material.

Dave:

Here is a little more on mechanical properties, but you have to pay, to access the full article.

Thanks for the link, I might post it on another forum & see what reaction it gets there.
