WHAT IS THE IMPACT SINGLE AND AVERAGE VALUES REQUIRED FOR SA516 GR 70 PLATE WELDING TEST COUPON AS PER ASME SECTION VIII DIV 1. WHERE I WILL FIND THE REFERENCE?

It  is  a function  of  the  thickness-   See  ASME / ASTM  A  20  for  minimum  impact values -

I know thickness plays a roll in temps but not to sure it changes values of absorded energy unless sub sized samples are used.
I deal mostly with incomming steel from the Mill, Ravi does this change when dealing with a weld coupon or were you refering to sub sizes when mentioning thickness?
When i recieve a plate (with suppliment s-5) i use the thickness to get a test temp then i go to the table with the values for absorbed enery, but if there is a subsized test piece being used, there is a reduction of temp and the absorbed energy value changes, Is the correct Ravi or anyone?

UG-84 (f) Impact testing of welds
UG-84 (g) (4) the test temp for welds and head affected zones shall not be higher than required for base metals.
UG-84 (g) (5) Impact values shall be at least as high as those required for base materials.
So in section VIII Div 1 is this what you are referring to if it is
I believe that in sec II sa-516 gr 70 impact testing  sends you to SA-20 so in table A1.15  page 111 in ed 2004 this gives you the test temps and values for sa 516 gr-70
Sound logical ? any1 care to comment?

HER THE IMPACT TEST IS FOR THE WELDING. SO I REFER THE FIG UG-84.1M OF ASME SECTION VIII DIV 1 -FOR SA 516 GR 70 (YIELD STR 260 MPa & 45 MM THK) THE AVGE VALUE IS 20 JOULES AND THE SINGLE VALUE SHOULD NOT BE LESS THAN 2/3 (13 JOULES) OF THE AVGE VALUE( FULL SIZE IMPACT TEST SPECIMENS USED). BUT IN SA 20 THE IMPACT VALUES STATED ARE FOR THE MATERIAL NOT FOR WELDING. HERE MY CASE IS FOR WELDING. BUT IN SA 20 THE ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA IS 12 JOULES SINGLE VALUE AND 15 JOULES AVGE FOR A516 GR70 MATERIAL. MY INTERPRETATION IS CORRCT? NEED HELP.

What excactly are you testing?
Is this a PQR ?
A joint test required by code?
there are two valus Joules and foot LBS
"BUT IN SA 20 THE ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA IS 12 JOULES SINGLE VALUE AND 15 JOULES AVGE FOR A516 GR70 MATERIAL. MY INTERPRETATION IS CORRCT? NEED HELP."
I think that this is foot LBS please double check the units there are two tables for this one is foot LBS/and the other is joules.
the average must be 20 of greater, but one sample may be as low as 13.
I don not have the code now......but you are correct in that you need help.
