Hey All,
Been gone for a while.Working 7 days on and off since sept and a lot of 12 hrs. When I got time off i did my 1st love(course,,after God and family)
fishing for big Cats and crappie.
I have a question for the board..
I have a ranger 250 that a guy turned the heat way up to blow a hole out and now it will only make a small spark,no weld.
I have not seen the machine yet.
He is bring the machine by on weds.Cranks and runs great just no welding.Has a 20 hp Kolher engine.

Does any body have sugestions??
Thanks in advance....

Do you have auxillary power? Could be stuck brushes, blown rheostat, faulty connection, or bridge rectifier. All Minor problems and cost.

Ranger 250's don't have shunt coils.

Check the rheostat; did the "wiper brush" climb on top of a bunch of dirt/crud at max position and "burn" the wire on the rheostat due to the resistance?

Hey Kaye and 357max,Right now I can't git the engine to crank to check the AUX.
I have not checked the rheostat for trash.
Is there a "meter" check I can make on the rheostat?
I think the machine has been sitting longer that the guy said there is a lot of rust on some of the conections.
And some dirt dubbers nest under the hood.
Thanks mikeb
